Pantomime: The Story begins again …
JACK AND THE BEANSTALK: CALL FOR CAST AND SUPPORT TEAM
So, we managed to put all the pantomimes back in their right place in January, despite the snow, and now is the time to start working on the 2010/2011 production, for performances on 6-9 January 2011.
This year’s show will be the traditional story ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’, telling the tale of Widow Goodbody’s struggle to pay her rent, and her son Jack’s climb up the beanstalk to the castle where he must outwit Giant Bellibulge. It’s all exciting stuff, but it needs a cast of young people to make it come alive!
So, do come along to the casting session in Ss Philip & James Hall at 2.30 pm on Sunday 12 September. We welcome anyone from Year 6 upwards to try out for a part – all rehearsals are on Sunday afternoons to start with, becoming more frequent as ‘show-time’ approaches.
As well as actors, the pantomime would not be possible without the army of adult helpers, doing all sorts of things behind the scenes (most of them legal!). If you’d like to get involved this year (with set construction and painting, help with costumes, make up, etc), please contact Carolyn on 684601 (or mobile 07805 288175) or Andreas on 621139.
Robinson Crusoe in Pantoland
This year’s Parish Youth Pantomime was Robinson Crusoe in Pantoland!
Here is a sneek preview from the last rehearsal!
We hope you were transported on a tour of Panto Land as our hero Robinson Crusoe chases the Sheriff of Nottingham and his henchmen, with plenty of laughs and swashbuckling fun on the way, and tries to put all the fairy tales back in their rightful place.
View from the Cast(away)
Rehearsals for Robinson Crusoe in Pantoland are well underway, with our Sunday afternoons being spent practising scenes and learning songs, all under the direction of Carolyn and Andreas. The dreaded “no more scripts – learn it” time has now arrived so we are all busy learning words and songs. Overall, the Panto is coming along nicely (“Oh no it isn’t”) although some Scottish and Chinese accents still need to be mastered!
We would all like to thank those helping with the pantomime thisyear; especially Carolyn who we all agree is doing a fantastic job stepping into Bernard’s shoes! Thank you also to Bernard for writing this year’s Panto – we hope it will make him proud!

Sinbad the Sailor - 2009 Production
January 2009 saw the end of an era for the Panto Club as Bernard Tinker moved from Fleet to Dorset after 33 panto productions (and some of his jokes were even older that that!) He returned for the Saturday night perfomance where the Vicar made a presentation to him on behalf of the cast.
