All Saints Lighting Fund

Lighten our Darkness

Fantastic News on 25 April that we have now passed our original £30,000 target for fundraising! Thank you to everyone! HOWEVER as so often happens with these things, the costs have crept up a bit with the passing of time, so we do need another £1,500 or so! There is a ‘cross of coins’ in both churches for £1 or £2 coins. The ‘Canisters’ have generated an amazing sum – could you possibly take another one and repeat your good work. (Canisters can be found in both churches). OR – how about doing some fundraising yourselves? OR one off, gift aided donations are much appreciated. For more information or any monies collected please contact Juliet Worthington, 01252 614159.

Brighton our darkness! Would anyone like to join the Biffin's on a 45 mile sponsored cycle ride to Brighton on Saturday 10th July in aid of the All Saints lighting appeal? We are also looking for sponsors and supporters to meet us at Brighton beach for a picnic. Interested? Contact Brian or Anne on 01252 616692, brian.biffin@gmail.com or anne.biffin@googlemail.com

See the Brighton Our Darkness web page for more details and to send your pledges for sponsorship

An update from the Vicar

I am aware that it is some time since we gave everyone an update on where we are with the proposed new lighting scheme for All Saints.

Just before Christmas we received a proposal from the Lighting Company (CES Church Lighting) which we have engaged for this project. We have reviewed this and much of the proposal is excellent, but there are several key areas that we are asking for clarification on, and by the time you read this we hope to have resolved these outstanding issues.  One of the key problems was the cost which had risen considerably above the £30,000 we had originally been led to believe it would be.

We have stated that we would not want to exceed this amount and have therefore had to cut out some of the features proposed by the Lighting Company.  We feel confident we are able to do this and still have a very much improved and enhanced lighting arrangement in the church.  Once the scheme has been finalised and approved by the PCC, our hopes are that we can start applying for a faculty in April and do the work sometime over the summer period. We are sorry this has taken so long but lighting is such an important feature of our church that we do need to get it right!

Thank you to everyone who has contributed financially to this scheme so far, as I write the total stands at around £26,000.  So only £4,500 to go! If you can help in any way all donations will be gratefully received by Juliet Worthington, our Treasurer.  There are still lots of canisters you could fill with £2.00 coins and the Cross of Coins will also be appearing again soon.

The Social Committee are planning several more fundraising events, so please keep an eye open for these and give your support.  We do need to have raised the £30,000 before we begin any work.

The P&J Choir and Band musical social event raised £400 for the All Saints lighting scheme and Parish funds. Many thanks to all who attended and donated so generously and, of course, to the musicians who provided the entertainment.

Festival Weekend - Lighten Our Darkness Appeal

Thank you to everyone who took part in the Flower Festival Weekend - it was a huge success and could not have been achieved without your much appreciated and valued support. It was so lovely to see so many people enjoying the wonderful fellowship of all the events that took place. Thank you to all flower arrangers and musicians who took part - again without you none of the weekend would have been possible. The total raised was in excess of £7,000 - which will be put towards the amount needed for our NEW LIGHTING SCHEME at All Saints Church.
